What a draft looks like

A hand-written example — describe your topic above and a fresh draft of your own lands here.

Two years in the basement, writing late at night

Kept a notebook by the window, waiting for the light

Sent another demo out, another quiet day

Kept the shoes beside the door and found another way

Now the room is getting louder when I step up to the mic

Still remember empty chairs and every borrowed bike

Line actions

How RhymeKit writes your rap lyrics

Start with a topic: a place, a feeling, a story or a line you cannot get out of your head. Choose a style, mood, approximate bar count and rhyme scheme. RhymeKit uses those choices to draft lyrics in sections you can inspect and change.

Read the draft aloud. Keep the lines that sound like you, edit anything that feels awkward, and use the line tools when you want another approach. AI can suggest a starting point; your own details and delivery make the result yours.

  1. Describe your topic. One line is enough: a scene, a grudge, a memory.
  2. Set the tools. Style, mood, bar count and your rhyme scheme.
  3. Edit what comes back. Rewrite lines, keep the keepers, download the file.

Built on real rhyme schemes, not random rhymes

Rhyme schemes describe where sounds return. In AABB, the first two lines share one ending sound and the next two share another. ABAB alternates those sounds. AAAA keeps a related sound across four lines. Internal rhymes sit inside a line, so the rhythm has more to play with than its final word.

The generator follows your chosen pattern as an instruction, but a generated draft can miss a rhyme or use a near rhyme. Check the sound yourself and revise lines until they work for your voice.

AABB
I wrote through the rain till the morning was bright
Kept one small idea through the middle of night
I carried that page when I walked through the door
And left with a reason to write something more

ABAB
The train takes me home through the rain
I keep my old book by my side
Tomorrow I start it again
With a new line to carry inside

A rap lyrics maker for every style

  • Trap

Short phrases, repeated motifs and room for ad-libs can give a trap verse its punch. Try a specific scene or ambition as your topic, then edit the pauses to fit your own delivery.

    Try Trap ↗
  • Drill

Drill often uses clipped phrasing, tense images and irregular stresses. Start with a clear point of view and give the verse details that make its setting feel specific.

    Try Drill ↗
  • Boom Bap

A steady beat gives longer thoughts room to unfold. Use a memory or argument as your starting point, and leave space for a final line that pays off the story.

    Try Boom Bap ↗
  • Old School

Call-and-response, direct storytelling and clear end rhymes can make a verse easy to follow. Write toward an audience and look for a phrase a crowd could answer.

    Try Old School ↗
  • Melodic

Melodic rap moves between spoken rhythm and phrases that could be sung. Give the hook a simple emotional idea, then adjust the vowels and pauses for your melody.

    Try Melodic ↗
  • Freestyle

Loose phrasing, callbacks and quick changes of direction can make a draft feel spontaneous. Use a concrete prompt as an anchor and keep the lines that sound natural aloud.

    Try Freestyle ↗

Bars, verses and hooks: how a rap is actually built

A bar is a unit of musical time; a written line often stands in for one bar, although delivery can stretch across the beat. A verse develops the story or argument. A hook returns to the central idea, using repetition and a memorable rhythm to give listeners a way back in.

Eight bars make a compact thought — one scene, one turn.

Sixteen is the standard verse: room to set up and pay off.

Four to eight fits a hook that listeners can hum back.

Write a whole rap song, not just a verse

Open advanced settings and select a full outline to draft more than one section. A verse can establish the situation; a hook can bring the main idea back; another verse can show what changed. A bridge is another option when the story needs a new perspective.

Use the draft as an arrangement to edit, extend and perform. The tool generates text, and its section choices may vary. You can also choose a verse and hook or ask for a hook on its own.

  • Verse 1 the situation, whose voice, where it happens
  • Hook the line you want repeated back to you
  • Verse 2 what changed, or what it cost
  • Bridge one new angle before the last hook

From rap lyrics to a rap video

Once the words feel right, copy them into the rap video generator. Choose an aspect ratio and submit the lyrics to create a song, generated visuals and automatically aligned captions. Review the finished video before sharing: caption timing can vary.

Lyrics are free within the daily allowance. Video generation requires an account and credits; see how video credits work before you submit.

Freestyle and battle bars, in seconds

For a looser draft, choose the Freestyle style and give the generator a topic. For a different kind of practice, the freestyle rap generator includes a timed word deck: draw a word and find your next line out loud. AI freestyle bars on that page require sign-in.

  1. Draw a word. The deck deals a random prompt.
  2. Race the timer. Rounds run at 3, 5, 8 or 10 seconds.
  3. Keep the bars. Anything good goes through your head, then into the notebook.

Diss tracks and punchlines

A good punchline is specific: it turns a familiar habit or moment into a surprise. The diss track generator lets you set a target, add roast material and choose an intensity. Keep it playful and aimed at the joke, not someone’s identity or safety.

Your comebacks have a delay — every line takes buffering time.

Example punchline: a habit turned into a turn.

Lyrics examples: three topics, three drafts

These illustrative, human-written examples show how a prompt can become lines. They are examples of writing choices, not recorded outputs from a model.

FAQ

Is RhymeKit’s rap lyrics generator free?

Yes. Lyrics are free and do not use video credits. Anonymous visitors can use three free actions per day; generating, rewriting a line and continuing a draft share that allowance.

Do I need an account to generate rap lyrics?

No account is needed to try the lyrics generator. A signed-in account has 20 free lyric actions per day. Generated jobs are recorded for signed-in users; download a copy if you want to keep your draft.

Can I edit the lyrics it writes?

Yes. Edit the lines in the lyrics desk, copy your work or download it as a text file. You can also regenerate a draft or ask for an individual line to be rewritten, subject to your daily allowance.

What rhyme schemes can it write in?

Choose AABB for paired endings, ABAB for alternating endings, AAAA for a shared sound, internal rhyme for rhymes within lines, or natural for a freer approach. AI output can vary, so review the result.

How many bars should a verse be?

Sixteen bars is a common verse length, while eight can make a concise verse. Hooks often use four to eight bars. These are conventions rather than rules: choose a length that gives your idea room to develop.

Can it write a whole song, not just a verse?

Choose the full outline in advanced settings to ask for multiple sections, or select a verse and hook. The bar count is an approximate total across the draft, so a longer song may need additional writing.

Can I turn the lyrics into a rap video?

Yes. Take your finished lyrics to the rap video generator and paste them into the studio. Video generation requires an account and credits; the studio shows the cost before you submit. See how video credits work.

Does it work for drill, trap and boom bap?

Yes. You can select Trap, Drill, Boom Bap, Old School, Melodic or Freestyle. Each option guides the writing style; results still depend on your topic and the choices you make.
